Biography

Born and raised in Spain, Luisa López Celada is an award-winning oil painter whose work is held in private collections across Europe and the United States.

Her artistic talent was recognized early when she received the National Painting Prize at the age of twelve. She later earned a Master from the Complutense University of Fine Arts in Madrid, followed by a Fulbright Scholarship to New York, where she completed a Master of Science in Communications Design at Pratt Institute.

Luisa established a distinguished career in advertising as an Art Director at McCann Erickson, working on international accounts, before founding i-Latina, a New York-based agency dedicated to connecting U.S. companies with Hispanic audiences through strategic brand communications.

Alongside her demanding career running i-Latina in Midtown Manhattan, she remained deeply committed to her painting practice. She worked for years at the Art Students League of New York alongside Robert Cenedella, receiving multiple recognitions, including the Red Dot Award.

Her leadership within the creative community extended through her role as Chairperson of the Women in Design Group at the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) in New York, where she led initiatives fostering dialogue, mentorship, and professional exchange.

My ultimate goal is to inspire, to heal, and to bring joy through my art.

A profound personal transformation followed her journey through cancer. Painting became a space for healing, resilience, renewal, and inner restoration. This experience ultimately led her to close her advertising agency and dedicate herself fully to her art, with the purpose of sharing the healing power of creative expression.

In 2012, she established her full-time studio practice in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, grounded in the belief that art can serve as both a visual language and a catalyst for transformation.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries across New York, as well as nationally and internationally, including presentations during Art Basel Miami. It has also been presented at Visioner Gallery alongside internationally established artists whose works define the highest levels of the global art market.

After receiving the NYC Artists Corps Award, Luisa expanded her practice to include facilitating art therapy experiences.

As an art therapy facilitator, she creates spaces where creativity becomes a pathway to emotional restoration, self-discovery, and growth, extending her work beyond the canvas.

A longtime New Yorker, Luisa draws continuous inspiration from the city’s cultural diversity and dynamic energy. Her work engages with themes of inner landscapes and global awareness, addressing contemporary conversations around climate change, migration, and women’s rights.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores energy made visible.

Through color, light, and movement, I translate the unseen forces that shape both inner and outer worlds. Each painting emerges through an intuitive process guided by emotion, memory, and a deep sense of connection.

I see myself as a conduit. The canvas becomes a space where energies take form, where harmony and tension coexist, and where something beyond the material begins to unfold.

Rooted in both abstract and figurative language, my work reflects a lifelong exploration of transformation. Personal experiences, including moments of profound challenge and renewal, have deepened my understanding of art as a space for healing and alignment.

Alongside this inner dimension, my work engages with broader themes of shared humanity, including climate awareness, migration, and women’s rights, inviting reflection on our collective experience.

Each work is created with quiet intention to resonate beyond the visual, offering stillness and awakening connection. Within the spaces it inhabits, it introduces a sense of balance and quiet strength.

In a world often defined by fragmentation, my work is guided by a singular purpose: to restore a sense of unity. I believe art holds the power to heal, to connect, and to expand perception, bringing light, energy, and human experience into harmony.
